DESCRIPTION

Olanib (Olaparib)

Olanib is used for the returning treatment of some types of ovarian cancer in patients who have had platinum chemotherapy or a change in gene called BRCA. Olanib is a potent oral poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor. Cancer cells rely on PARP to stay alive, including cancer cells which BRCA gene change, thus Olanib works to stop PARP from repairing DNA damage this results in death of cancer cells.

How it Works
Olanib is a potent oral poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor. PARP is a protein that helps cells repair themselves. By inhibiting the action of PARP cancer cells are unable to repair themselves.

Tiredness
Fatigue
Nausea
Diarrhea
Loss of appetite
DIzziness
Headache
Indigestion

Expert advice

It is advisable to contact your doctor and go to the emergency room immediately if you experience a fever of 38 degrees or more with chills, if you have an allergic reaction such as swelling, itching or hives and if you are experiencing troubles breathing and having uncontrollable cough.

Important Precautions

It is advisable to inform your doctor of any other medications or prescription medications you are taking before starting Olanib treatment. You are also advised against taking any kind of vaccination or immunization while on Olanib treatment.

Storage

Store Olanib in a cold dry place away from direct sunlight exposure.
